Les entrepreneurs de l&rsquo;Internet \u00e9taient une nouvelle esp\u00e8ce, un signal faible sur\u00a0le radar placide de l&rsquo;avant-11-septembre-2001.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">C&rsquo;\u00e9tait la p\u00e9riode o\u00f9\u00a0l&rsquo;UE avan\u00e7ait pleine de confiance\u00a0vers une \u00e8re post-historique et post-h\u00e9ro\u00efque. Les \u00e9chos tragiques de l&rsquo;\u00e8re pr\u00e9-marchande, pr\u00e9-d\u00e9mocratique s&rsquo;estompaient dans un lointain souvenir. Personne n&rsquo;imaginait \u00e9videmment la possibilit\u00e9 d&rsquo;un Brexit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Les gens se concentraient essentiellement sur la t\u00e2che de\u00a0faire de l&rsquo;argent, et tout le monde avait d\u00e9cid\u00e9 que l&rsquo;Internet constituait un domaine prometteur sur ce plan. Une bulle \u00e9clat\u00e9e et pas mal d&rsquo;ann\u00e9es plus tard, la promesse a \u00e9t\u00e9 pour l&rsquo;essentiel tenue. Certains parmi les titans num\u00e9riques sont n\u00e9s dans cette p\u00e9riode.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Mais \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9poque la majorit\u00e9 des jeunes de vingt ans cherchaient plut\u00f4t \u00e0 s&rsquo;int\u00e9grer dans les structures \u00e9conomiques existantes. Le mod\u00e8le de la Silicon Valley n&rsquo;\u00e9tait pas pour tout le monde. Fr\u00e9quemment en position d&rsquo;outsiders, les entrepreneurs \u00e9taient alors souvent mus par une volont\u00e9 de revanche.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Quelque part au cours de la derni\u00e8re partie de cette d\u00e9cennie, la cote sociale de l&rsquo;entrepreneuriat a d\u00e9coll\u00e9. Fonder une startup ne d\u00e9pareillait plus le CV. Devenir entrepreneur fut reconnu comme un parcours de carri\u00e8re valable pour les jeunes : soit ils augmentaient rapidement leur fortune, soit ils faisaient l&rsquo;acquisition de comp\u00e9tences pr\u00e9cieuses au cours d&rsquo;un processus d&rsquo;apprentissage, qui autrefois aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 per\u00e7u comme un \u00e9chec. Fonder une entreprise n&rsquo;\u00e9tait pas loin de repr\u00e9senter une strat\u00e9gie dominante.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">L&rsquo;esprit d&rsquo;entreprise \u00e9tait \u00e9galement\u00a0per\u00e7u comme un moyen d&rsquo;\u00e9viter les <a href=\"http:\/\/bigbrowser.blog.lemonde.fr\/2016\/04\/20\/dur-dur-davoir-un-job-a-la-con\/\"><em>jobs \u00e0 la con<\/em><\/a>. Comme Houellebecq le remarquait il y a plus de vingt ans, tous les emplois ne sont pas \u00e9galement productifs dans notre \u00e9conomie.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">En 2016, ce tableau a de nouveau \u00e9volu\u00e9. Les entrepreneurs sont devenus le coeur d&rsquo;un \u00e9norme march\u00e9 tr\u00e8s convoit\u00e9. Il n&rsquo;a jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 plus facile de trouver les ressources n\u00e9cessaires pour d\u00e9marrer une entreprise. Et l&rsquo;attrait du statut d&rsquo;entrepreneur\u00a0a consid\u00e9rablement\u00a0augment\u00e9. Des films tels que <em>The Social Network<\/em> (2010) n&rsquo;ont pas nuit \u00e0 cette \u00e9volution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Allez dans n&rsquo;importe quelle conf\u00e9rence de startups aujourd&rsquo;hui, et vous remarquerez un changement, non pas tant dans l&rsquo;intensit\u00e9, que\u00a0dans l&rsquo;origine de la volont\u00e9 de r\u00e9ussir. Les gens ont encore quelque chose \u00e0 prouver. Ils veulent toujours \u00e9viter les jobs \u00e0 la con. Et ils ont certainement encore envie de devenir riches. Mais il y a un autre motif puissant \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9\u00a0de tout cela maintenant: la <em>uber angst,\u00a0<\/em>l&rsquo;angoisse de l&rsquo;ub\u00e9risation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">La uber angst est le produit de la perturbation de l&rsquo;organisation du travail caus\u00e9e par le mod\u00e8le en marketplace adopt\u00e9 par de nombreuses start<\/span><span class=\"s1\">ups aujourd&rsquo;hui &#8211; autrement connu sous le nom d&rsquo;<\/span><span class=\"s1\">uberization. Ce qui est effrayant.<\/p>\n<p>Notons en passant qu&rsquo;Albert a vu juste <a href=\"https:\/\/open-organization.com\/fr\/2016\/06\/16\/francais-pourquoi-microsoft-a-rachete-linkedin-26-2b\/\">en recommandant<\/a> l&rsquo;achat d&rsquo;actions LinkedIn, en raison de la fonction centrale que cette soci\u00e9t\u00e9 fournit dans la nouvelle architecture du travail.<\/p>\n<p>Dans sa description de la g\u00e9n\u00e9ration \u00abslasher\u00bb actuelle, il se peut qu&rsquo;il avait quelque chose comme Emmanuelle Duez \u00e0 l&rsquo;esprit, entrepreneur \/ intellectuelle \/ r\u00e9serviste dans la marine. Cette derni\u00e8re convainc lorsqu&rsquo;elle explique que\u00a0la g\u00e9n\u00e9ration actuelle incarne de nouvelles r\u00e8gles du jeu pour les entreprises, et que les organisations ont besoin de s&rsquo;appuyer sur cette g\u00e9n\u00e9ration\u00a0afin de s&rsquo;adapter \u00e0 cette nouvelle r\u00e9alit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Emmanuelle et Albert savent que la meilleure mani\u00e8re de surmonter l&rsquo;angoisse de l&rsquo;ub\u00e9risation est de devenir soi-m\u00eame un entrepreneur. Internet entrepreneurs were a new breed, low on the radar of these placid pre-9\/11 years.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Back in those days, the EU was self-confidently marching into a post-historical and post-heroic age. The tragic echoes of pre-market, pre-democratic times were fading into a distant memory. Nobody imagined the possibility of Brexit.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">People basically focused on making money, and everybody had decided the Internet was a good bet for that purpose. A popped bubble and several years later, this bet was proven to be fundamentally correct. Some of the biggest digital titans were born in this period.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">But most people coming into their twenties during the 2000s just tried hard to fit into existing economic structures. The Silicon Valley stuff wasn\u2019t for everyone: it used to be that <a href=\"https:\/\/open-organization.com\/en\/2016\/02\/24\/straight-outta-maisons-alfort-xavier-niel\/\">entrepreneur types<\/a> had a chip on the shoulder and an outsider attitude.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Somewhere around the later part of that decade, entrepreneurship started to not look so bad on a resume. Entrepreneurship got recognition as a valid career path for young people: either achieve high net worth fast or gain marketable skills in the DIY learning process otherwise known as failure. Entrepreneurship was starting to look like an all-round dominant strategy.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Entrepreneurship was also, and still is perceived as a way to avoid <a href=\"http:\/\/strikemag.org\/bullshit-jobs\/\"><em>bullshit jobs<\/em><\/a>. As <a href=\"https:\/\/open-organization.com\/en\/2016\/05\/28\/food-for-thought-michel-houellebecq-and-innovation\/\">Houellebecq<\/a> observed a while ago, not all jobs are equally productive in our economy.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In 2016, the picture has evolved again. Entrepreneurs have become the center of a huge industry. They are a coveted market in themselves. It has never been easier to find the resources to start a company. And the attractiveness of being an entrepreneur has certainly increased in the mainstream. Movies such as The Social Network (2010) didn\u2019t hurt this process.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Go to any startup conference today, and you will notice a change, not so much in the intensity, but in the origin of the drive to succeed. People still have something to prove. They still want to avoid bullshit jobs. And they certainly still want to get rich. But there is another powerful motive on top of this now: <em>uber angst<\/em>.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Uber angst is the product of the disruption of the organization of work caused by the marketplace model adopted by many startups today \u2014\u00a0otherwise known as uberization. It\u2019s scary.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As a side note, he also correctly<a href=\"https:\/\/open-organization.com\/fr\/2016\/06\/16\/francais-pourquoi-microsoft-a-rachete-linkedin-26-2b\/\"> recommended buying LinkedIn shares<\/a> because of the central function that this company provides in the new architecture of work he envisions.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It could be that when he described the current young \u2018slasher\u2019 generation, he had something like Emmanuelle Duez in mind, the entrepreneur\/navy reservist\/thought leader. <a href=\"https:\/\/open-organization.com\/en\/2016\/07\/01\/interview-with-emmanuelle-duez-ceo-the-boson-project\/\">She makes a strong point<\/a> that the current generation embodies the new rules of the business game, and that organizations need to use them in order to transform themselves.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Both Emmanuelle and Albert know that the only way to avoid to overcome uber angst is to become an entrepreneur yourself. So what are you waiting for? It\u2019s 2016!
